An investigation into the state of generosity in America.

The story everyone's telling about American generosity is missing some facts.

So we’re going looking.

The nonprofit sector finds itself in a tough moment. Funding is uncertain. Public trust is thin. The number of American households giving has been falling for years.

And yet– 95% of Americans say they give, want to give, or used to.

So what happened? Where’s the disconnect? And, more importantly, can we find our way back?

That’s what we’ve set out to learn. Not just through a research report (though we started there, and it’s absolutely worth your time), but by actually going out into the world and talking to people face to face.

Over the next year, we’re traveling across the country, sitting in living rooms and church basements and food bank parking lots, talking to all kinds of Americans– about what generosity looks like in their lives, what gets in the way, and how we think about who comes after us.

And we think you’re going to love following along. Come back on 9/1/26 to learn more.
